Trip leaders are the backbone of the KMC, without them, we could not offer a great program of summer mountain activities. To further develop our trip leaders and expand our summer trip schedule, the KMC is excited to announce the first Summer Mountain Leadership Course.

This 1.5 day course will be held in the Kokanee Range and will cover a variety of topics and skills suitable for recreational leaders covering all aspects of running a successful KMC trip from the initial planning stages right through to the post-trip debrief. The course will be instructed by ACMG certified Mountain Guide Shaun King. Shaun is not only an experienced mountaineer, climber and skier, he is also a great instructor.

In recognition of the importance of our volunteers, the KMC will subsidize a portion of the course fees for suitable applicants. Suitable applicants are those who have shown, or indicate a commitment to leading summer mountaineering trips. Participants are expected to come prepared to put at least one summer trip on the KMC summer trip schedule. You can find a list of suggested trips here.
